Automotive Electronics
Wanshih has a dedicated “Small-Batch, High-Mix Order Center” in Taipei, equipped with highly flexible processes and jig capabilities, supporting orders starting from 100 to 500 pieces. It is ideal for prototyping, R&D, and the early stages of module introduction.
Absolutely. We have a proven track record in designing and manufacturing high-speed communication harnesses for IP cameras, FPC-based surround-view systems , and HSD (High-Speed Data) applications. We actively support projects for both Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs and can provide comprehensive assistance with prototyping and testing.
Our engineering team can recommend the optimal cable type and connector combination based on your specific application scenario and electrical requirements. To facilitate your decision-making process, we provide samples and detailed specification sheets to support your selection.
In automotive harness design, proper terminal selection is critical for reliability. Based on the wire gauge, electrical requirements, and application conditions you provide, Wanshih selects qualified terminal models from our extensive internal database and our network of trusted brand partners. We evaluate connection types like wire-to-wire and wire-to-board, then verify performance through prototyping and compatibility testing to ensure a highly reliable bond ready for mass production.
During our automotive cable harness development process, we do not impose a fixed limit on prototype iterations. Every harness designed for EV or autonomous driving applications undergoes multiple rounds of sampling and refinement to ensure its performance and quality meet stringent automotive-grade standards. We collaborate closely with our OEM and Tier 1 clients to ensure each prototype optimizes the final design and manufacturability.
Wanshih optimizes every aspect of our automotive cable design, from structure and materials to shielding technology:
- Flexibility: We utilize highly flexible conductors and high-tensile-strength jacket materials, perfect for the high-density routing environments in modern EVs.
- High-Temperature & Oil Resistance: We select advanced materials like XLPE and FEP and oil-resistant sheath compounds for use in powertrains and other high-temperature compartments.
- High-Voltage & High-Frequency Performance: We use thickened insulation layers and optimized shielding structures to maintain stable, high-speed signal transmission. All designs are validated in our in-house labs to confirm compliance with international automotive standards such as ISO and SAE.
As the demand for EVs and autonomous driving grows, automotive harnesses must deliver both mechanical stability and superior electronic transmission performance. Wanshih employs a cross-functional collaboration process where our design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams review every design detail concurrently. This approach shortens the development cycle, boosts production efficiency, and ensures the stability and consistency of the final product.
In automotive cable harness manufacturing, we use two primary terminal connection processes:
-
Crimping
- Pros: Highly efficient with low contact resistance, making it ideal for high-volume production.
- Quality Control: We monitor crimp height and conduct pull-force tests to ensure a secure connection.
-
Soldering
- Pros: Well-suited for low-volume custom orders or conductors with special specifications.
- Quality Control: We precisely control soldering temperature and time to prevent cold joints or heat damage to the conductor. Wanshih selects the optimal processing method for each project and utilizes automated inspection systems to ensure product consistency.
Wanshih employs a three-tiered control process to ensure the electrical stability of our automotive harnesses:
- Material Selection: We use only automotive-grade certified, high-conductivity conductors and high-temperature resistant insulation materials.
- Process Control: We continuously monitor crimp height and soldering temperatures to prevent poor connections.
- Final Inspection: We conduct impedance, continuity, and dielectric withstand tests to ensure the product maintains stable signaling, even in harsh environments.
To guarantee the consistent quality of our automotive cablees, Wanshih utilizes fully and semi-automated processing equipment with real-time monitoring of key parameters like pull force, soldering temperature, and crimping pressure. Furthermore, we implement multiple quality control checkpoints—from wire cutting and crimping to final assembly—to comprehensively minimize defect rates.
With the rapid advancement of EVs and ADAS, automotive harnesses must support high-frequency, high-speed data transfer with exceptional stability. Wanshih’s technical solutions include:
- High-Speed Structural Design: We use low-loss twisted-pair structures with precision impedance control to support high-speed protocols like PAM4, PCIe, and GMSL at speeds exceeding 10Gbps.
- Multi-Layer EMI Shielding: We combine aluminum foil, copper braiding, and composite shielding layers to effectively mitigate EMI and crosstalk.
- Rigorous Testing & Validation: Our process includes high-frequency S-parameter analysis, dynamic bending tests, and environmental durability testing to guarantee signal integrity.
- Custom Integration: We provide integrated high-speed automotive cable harness solutions tailored to our clients' needs, meeting the demanding data transmission requirements of future intelligent vehicles.
Wanshih utilizes DFMEA and PFMEA analysis in conjunction with comprehensive testing in our in-house lab to ensure every automotive cable harness is suitable for diverse vehicle models and complex application environments. Our validation includes high-temperature aging, salt spray corrosion, vibration, and signal integrity testing to confirm stable operation in electric, hybrid, and traditional vehicles.
